On Saturday July 25th the Parsons Police Department was made aware of an investigation and arrest of one of its officers. Upon learning of the allegations involving Officer Tyller White, the Parsons Police Department immediately initiated an Internal Affairs investigation while fully cooperating with the criminal investigation being conducted by the Labette County Sheriff's Office. Following a comprehensive review of the facts and evidence, the department determined that Officer White's conduct was inconsistent with the standards of professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct expected of every member of the Parsons Police Department. He has subsequently been terminated.
"The trust our community places in its police officers is earned through integrity, accountability, and professionalism," said Chief Robert L. Spinks. "When an employee's actions fail to meet those standards, we have a responsibility to act decisively to maintain the confidence of the public we serve."
The Parsons Police Department remains committed to the core values of Pride, Professionalism, and Dedication. Every member of this department is expected to uphold the highest ethical standards, both on and off duty. Maintaining public trust requires accountability, transparency, and a willingness to take appropriate action whenever those standards are not met.
Because this matter remains part of an ongoing criminal investigation, the department will not comment on the specific facts of the case or the evidence involved. The Parsons Police Department will continue to provide its full cooperation and support to the Labette County Sheriff's Office and the prosecuting authorities as the criminal case moves forward.
The Parsons Police Department appreciates the professionalism of the investigators handling this case and remains committed to ensuring that all allegations involving its personnel are addressed fairly, thoroughly, and in accordance with the law.
