The Parsons Police Department believes that the most effective crime prevention strategy begins long before a crime occurs. While our officers remain committed to protecting life, enforcing the law, and responding to emergencies, we recognize that lasting public safety is built through strong partnerships with the people we serve.

Community-Oriented Policing
The Parsons Police Department is committed to Community-Oriented Policing and Problem Solving (COPPS), a philosophy that places relationships at the center of public safety. We believe the strongest police department is one that knows its neighborhoods, listens to community concerns, and works alongside citizens to address problems before they become crises.

Our officers actively engage with residents through neighborhood contacts, public events, school activities, business outreach, and community meetings. These everyday interactions help build trust, encourage cooperation, and foster the partnerships that make crime prevention successful.

Crime Prevention Programs
Crime prevention is everyone's responsibility. The department offers a variety of initiatives designed to educate, inform, and empower citizens to help protect themselves and their neighborhoods. Programs and initiatives include:

9 PM Routine - Encouraging residents each evening to lock doors and windows, secure vehicles, remove valuables from sight, and turn on exterior lighting.
See It! Hear It! Report It! - Promoting timely reporting of suspicious activity to help officers intervene before crimes occur.
Operation ID - Encouraging residents to record serial numbers and identify valuable property to aid investigations and recovery.
Vacation House Checks - Providing extra patrol attention for homes while residents are away.
Radar Trailer Program - Using portable speed display trailers to improve traffic safety in neighborhoods.
Safe Exchange Zone - Offering a monitored location for online marketplace transactions and child custody exchanges.
R U OK? Program - Conducting scheduled wellness contacts for vulnerable residents.
Registered Offender Program (PROP) - Providing enhanced monitoring and public education regarding registered offenders within the community.
Seasonal Safety Campaigns - Sharing practical safety information throughout the year addressing weather hazards, holidays, school safety, travel, scams, identity theft, and personal security.
