The Parsons Police Department's social media presence exists to build trust, share timely information, and strengthen partnerships with our community. Our goal is to provide accurate updates, promote transparency, and encourage positive engagement while maintaining a respectful and safe environment for all participants. Through responsible use of these platforms, we seek to enhance communication, support public safety, and reflect the professionalism and values of the Parsons Police Department.

These platforms allow us to provide timely updates on public safety issues, highlight community partnerships, and showcase the dedication of our officers.

Legal Notice for the Parsons Police Facebook Page:
The Parsons Police Department maintains an official Facebook page. It serves the public as a government-managed platform for official announcements and community engagement. Please note that, under Supreme Court precedent (Lindke v. Freed, 2024; and related court decisions), this page may be considered a limited public forum, and moderation is subject to First Amendment constraints.
We encourage respectful participation. Please note the Facebook page and all agency social media are moderated discussion sites. While all viewpoints are welcome, comments may be archieved, and accounts may be restricted if they contain any of the following:
- Unlawful content - threats of violence, incitement of crime, or content that violates federal, state, or local law.
- Obscenity - content that meets the legal definition of obscenity (Miller v. California, 1973).
- Harassment or targeted abuse - repeated, demeaning, or abusive comments directed at an individual, victim, officer, or member of the public.
- Discriminatory speech - comments that use slurs or demeaning language targeting a person or group based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or disability.
- Spam or malicious material - including commercial promotions, repeated off-topic posts, phishing/malware links, or fraudulent schemes.
- Copyright or trademark violations - including unauthorized posting of protected works.
- Personally identifiable or medical information - to protect individual privacy.
The Department will not archieve comments simply because they express criticism, disapproval, or an unpopular viewpoint. Moderation is applied in a content-neutral manner consistent with the First Amendment.
Moderation is applied impartially, regardless of political or ideological viewpoint. If your comment is archived or blocked and you believe this was in error, you may appeal by contacting jludwig@parsonspdks.gov or calling 620-421-7060.
Please do not post personal identifying information about officers or others-we respect privacy and public safety.
