Parsons Police Arrest Four Runaway Juveniles Following Attempted Burglary Investigation

The Parsons Police Department arrested four runaway juveniles early Wednesday morning following an attempted burglary at a business in the 2500 block of Main Street.

At approximately 12:45 a.m. on July 15, 2026, the Parsons Police Department responded to a report of a possible burglary in progress after an alert citizen observed several individuals attempting to force entry into a local vape store and immediately called 911.

Officers arrived within minutes and discovered evidence confirming an attempted unlawful entry into the business. As officers canvassed the surrounding area, they observed four individuals fleeing south from the scene.

With assistance from the Labette County Sheriff's Office, officers quickly established a perimeter extending from 24th Street and Grand Avenue back toward Main Street and began a coordinated search of the area.

During the search, officers successfully located and took two of the four juvenile suspects into custody. The remaining two juveniles were later located after returning to the Youth Crisis Center, where they were taken into custody without incident.

The investigation determined that all four suspects were runaway juveniles from the Youth Crisis Center. All four juveniles were transported to the Southeast Kansas Regional Juvenile Detention Center, where they are being held pending charges of Attempted Burglary, Criminal Damage to Property and Interference with Law Enforcement.

The Parsons Police Department would like to recognize the citizen whose quick actions and willingness to call 911 played a critical role in the successful resolution of this incident. This serves as another reminder of the importance of the department's "See It, Hear It, Report It" message. Prompt reporting by members of our community allows officers to respond quickly, preserve valuable evidence, and safely apprehend suspects before additional crimes can occur.

The department also extends its appreciation to the Labette County Sheriff's Office for assisting with the perimeter and search efforts, as well as the Labette County K-9 Team for its support during the investigation.

This incident highlights the strength of the partnerships between our community and local law enforcement agencies. When citizens remain vigilant and agencies work together, Parsons becomes a safer place to live, work, and visit.

This continues to be an on-going investigation, and citizens are encouraged to "See It, Hear It, Report It." All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
