The Halloween Holiday is here! We remind you to prioritize safety this Halloween when decorating, dressing up in costumes, carving pumpkins, and trick-or-treating.
Safe Kids Worldwide has several safety tips to help children remain safe while still experiencing the fun and excitement that comes with Halloween.
Costumes: Select costumes that are the right size to prevent trips and falls, that are light colored or have reflective tape that makes them visible to vehicles.
Masks: Consider using face paint and/or makeup instead of masks, which can limit a child's vision while walking.
Trick-or-Treating: Advise children to stay in groups and in familiar areas, watch for cars that are turning and backing up, always walk on sidewalks or paths and to only cross the street at corners or crosswalks. A parent or guardian should accompany younger children.
Driving: Slow down and be especially alert in residential neighborhoods! Take extra time to look for kids at intersections, on medians, and on curbs. As always, eliminate distractions (such as your phone), so you can concentrate on the road and your surroundings.
