The Parsons Police Legacy Fund is proud to announce an additional $5,000 donation to the Labette Community College Foundation in support of the Parsons Police Legacy in Leadership Endowed Scholarship, continuing the fund's commitment to investing in local students and the future leaders of our community.

This latest contribution brings the Parsons Police Legacy Fund's direct investment in the scholarship to $10,000. Through the generosity of the Hughes Family Grant and its 50% matching support, the total value of the scholarship endowment has now reached $15,000. The funds invested in the scholarship were made possible through donations from individuals, businesses, and community supporters of the Parsons Police Legacy Fund, along with proceeds generated through the annual Guardians of the Greens Charity Golf Tournament. The tournament and the donations make our mission to help the community a success.

Parsons Police Chief Robert Spinks, President of the Parsons Police Legacy Fund, said the growing endowment demonstrates what can be accomplished when a community invests in its young people. "The purpose of the Legacy Fund has always been about looking beyond today and asking what we can do now that will make Parsons stronger in the future," Chief Spinks said. "This scholarship is a perfect example of that mission. Every person who has donated, sponsored a team, played in the golf tournament, or supported one of our events has helped build something that will continue giving back long after we are gone. That is what creating a legacy is all about."

The Parsons Police Legacy Fund also recognizes Lindi Forbes and the LCC Foundation for their continued partnership and work in helping make the scholarship a reality. Forbes has worked closely with the Legacy Fund throughout the development and growth of the endowment and continues to play an important role in connecting donors with opportunities that directly benefit LCC students.

"Lindi Forbes does an incredible job for the LCC Foundation and for our entire community," said Lt. Jason Ludwig, Vice President of the Parsons Police Legacy Fund. "She has been a tremendous partner from the beginning and understands exactly what we are trying to accomplish. When we talk about leaving a legacy, we aren't talking about putting our names on something. We are talking about creating opportunities that will still be here years from now. This endowment does exactly that. The community supported us, and now that support is going directly back into the community through students who have the potential to become our future leaders."

The Legacy Fund is especially proud to congratulate Natalie McIntosh, a Criminal Justice major at Labette Community College, who has been selected as the first-ever recipient of the Parsons Police Legacy in Leadership Scholarship.

McIntosh's selection marks an important milestone for the scholarship. The endowment was created not simply to provide financial assistance, but to encourage students who demonstrate an interest in leadership, service, criminal justice, law enforcement, and making a positive impact in their communities.

"Seeing Natalie become the first recipient is what makes all of the work behind the scenes worthwhile," Ludwig added. "The $15,000 endowment is something we are extremely proud of, but the real measure of success is the students it helps. Natalie will always have the distinction of being the first Legacy in Leadership Scholar, and we hope she is the first of many students this fund will support for generations to come."

The Parsons Police Legacy Fund was established with a simple guiding principle: Building Better Together. Its mission is to create opportunities and strengthen the Parsons community through youth development, education, community outreach, and programs that encourage leadership and service.

The Legacy Fund extends its appreciation to the businesses, organizations, golfers, sponsors, donors, volunteers, and community members whose continued support has made the Legacy in Leadership Endowed Scholarship possible. With $15,000 now invested in the endowment, the Parsons Police Legacy Fund is already building toward the future-one student, one opportunity, and one legacy at a time.
