Parsons Police Department to Host Candlelight Vigil Honoring Victims and Survivors of Domestic Violence

On Saturday, October 4, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., in front of the Parsons Police Department, the Parsons Police Department's Domestic Violence Unit will host a Candlelight Vigil to honor the lives lost to domestic violence and to stand in solidarity with survivors and their families. This will follow the Parsons Police Departments Public Safety Fair earlier that day.
This solemn event will feature Abbi Winters, a courageous survivor of domestic violence, who will share her powerful personal story, discuss warning signs of abuse, and reflect on how her experiences continue to shape her journey today. Her story serves as a beacon of courage and awareness-reminding us that silence allows abuse to thrive, but sharing our voices can save lives.
The American Advocacy Initiative has generously stepped forward to support the vigil by donating flowers, candles, sound equipment, and their time to help bring this meaningful evening together.
"This vigil is more than an event-it's a declaration that Parsons stands united against domestic violence," said Cyprus Jones, Parsons Police Department Domestic Violence Victim Advocate. "Every light we hold tonight represents a life touched by violence, a survivor reclaiming their strength, or a loved one we've lost. Our message is simple: domestic abuse has no place in our homes, our relationships, or our community. We see you, we believe you, and we will continue to fight for your safety."
The Parsons Domestic Violence Unit also extends heartfelt thanks to BetterLife Nutrition for organizing a community fundraiser that provided gas cards for survivors needing relocation assistance and home security devices to enhance their safety. The Department further recognizes BCIK GEAR, The American Advocacy Initiative, Ben Cochran, FNP, Tom Davis, and the many caring citizens who donated publicly and anonymously. Their compassion ensures that survivors know they are not alone-and that their community stands ready to help them rebuild.
Domestic violence can happen to anyone-regardless of age, gender, income, or background. It often begins subtly, with emotional control or isolation, before escalating to physical or sexual abuse. Recognizing the warning signs and reaching out for help can save lives.
