As our nation pauses this November 11th to recognize the sacrifices made by those who have served in our Armed Forces, the Parsons Police Department takes the opportunity to honor the veteran members of its team who continue to serve the community of Parsons with distinction. This Veterans Day, we celebrate the following employees whose dedication spans both their military service and their commitment to the city of Parsons public safety:
· Lieutenant Jason Ludwig - U.S. Navy and U.S. Army Veteran
· Officer Mark Raney - U.S. Marine Corps Veteran
· Officer Sean McCullough - U.S. Army Veteran
· Records Coordinator Marshall Sills - U.S. Army Veteran
Each of these individuals answered the call to serve our country, and after their military careers, they chose to continue serving here at the Parsons Police Department. Their collective experience brings strength, resilience, and leadership to our department, and reinforces our mission to protect and support our community.
Chief of Police Robert Spinks offered his heartfelt appreciation "On this Veterans Day, I extend my deepest gratitude to our veteran employees. Your courage, discipline, and honor in military service set a standard here at the Parsons Police Department, and it is a privilege to serve alongside you. Whether in uniform on foreign shores or in uniform here at home, your commitment to service continues to strengthen our team and inspire our community."
Lieutenant Jason Ludwig reflected "Serving in both the military and law enforcement has given me a deep appreciation for teamwork, discipline, and leadership. Veterans understand what it means to be part of something bigger than us, and that same sense of purpose drives the Parsons Police Department every day. It's an honor to continue serving this community alongside others who share that commitment."
From the armed forces to civilian law enforcement, the transition can involve unique challenges, yet also natural synergies. The skills veterans bring, teamwork, adaptability, leadership under pressure can easily translate directly to the demanding work of policing. At the same time, veterans offer a perspective and experience that enriches our department's culture and enhances our connection with the community we serve.
The Parsons Police Department remains committed to supporting and valuing our veteran employees. Their backgrounds and experiences diversify and strengthen our approach to law enforcement, and we are grateful for the continued sacrifice and service each brings to our mission.
We invite the community to join us in celebrating these dedicated professionals and all veterans, not only for their past service, but also for their ongoing commitment to making Parsons a safer and better place. Veterans Day is a moment to remember the significance of service, sacrifice, and the bonds that link our country, our community, and those willing to stand in defense of our freedoms.
