On February 17, 2026, at approximately 11:32 a.m., officers with the Parsons Police Department responded to a call for service at the Hastings Inn, located at 400 Main Street, regarding a trespassing complaint.

Hotel staff reported that a subject, later identified as Diamond Lashay Renee Lee (24), was on the property and requested that she be formally trespassed from the premises. Staff advised officers that Lee was believed to be inside a hotel room with Daiquarrius Latreveon Higgins (27).

Officers attempted to make contact at the room; however, they were initially denied access, and the door was closed on responding officers. Through further investigation and review of hotel surveillance video, officers were able to confirm that Lee had entered the room and had not been observed leaving. Officers were also notified that Lee had multiple outstanding warrants for her arrest from Parsons Municipal Court, Labette County, and Olathe, Kansas.

Based on the information obtained during the investigation, detectives with the Parsons Police Department applied for and were granted a search warrant by a Labette County Judge for the hotel room to locate and arrest Lee.

As officers prepared to execute the warrant, Higgins exited the room. An initial search of the room did not locate Lee. A subsequent, more thorough search resulted in officers locating Lee concealed inside a large box filled with trash, food containers, and other sanitary items. Lee was taken into custody without further incident.

Lee was arrested for her outstanding warrants and now faces charges for Criminal Threat, Criminal Damage and Interference with Law Enforcement. Higgins was also arrested for Interference with Law Enforcement and Harboring a Known Wanted Person. Both were transported to Labette County Jail following the arrests.

Lt. Kyle Wiford praised the professionalism of the officers involved, stating "This incident shows the importance of thorough investigative work and attention to detail. Our officers and detectives followed proper legal procedures and ensured the safety of everyone involved while locating and taking a wanted individual into custody."

Chief Robert Spinks emphasized the department's commitment to accountability and community safety "Our officers acted methodically and within the bounds of the law to resolve this situation. We appreciate the cooperation of the hotel staff and the work of our detectives in securing the warrant and bringing this incident to a safe conclusion. The Parsons Police Department remains committed to enforcing the law and maintaining safety in our community."

This continues to be an on-going investigation, and citizens are encouraged to "See It, Hear It, Report It." All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. If anyone has any further information on this incident or any other criminal activity, please contact the Parsons Police Department at 421-7060 or call the Tip Line at 421-7057 or email at tips@parsonspdks.gov.
