The Parsons Police Department has concluded its initial investigation into a shooting that occurred in the early morning hours of Sunday, October 5, 2025, with the apprehension of the suspect.
In a previous Facebook Media Release the Parsons Police stated, at approximately 1:12 a.m., officers were dispatched to the Stepping Stone Gardens Apartments, located near 26th Street and Grand Avenue, in reference to a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers secured the scene, collected multiple pieces of evidence, and interviewed witnesses. No injuries were reported.
During the investigation, officers identified the suspect as Clyde Douglas McGlory IV, a 17-year-old of Topeka, Kansas, formerly of Parsons. Investigators determined that the incident began over a dispute regarding a misappropriated vehicle, which escalated into a personal confrontation involving a relationship issue. During that confrontation, McGlory IV allegedly produced a firearm and fired several shots toward a vehicle and the victims before fleeing the area.
A regional alert was issued, and McGlory IV was located and apprehended during an early morning traffic stop October 6, 2025, near U.S. Highway 400 and Brown Road in Labette County. The traffic stop was conducted safely, and McGlory IV was taken into custody without incident.
Following his arrest, McGlory IV was transported to the Girard Juvenile Detention Center, where he remains in custody pending further proceedings.
The Parsons Police Department extends its sincere appreciation to the Labette County Sheriff's Department for their action and assistance in the safe apprehension of the suspect. Their teamwork and attention to detail were vital in bringing this case to a swift and peaceful resolution.
"This case is a prime example of effective interagency cooperation," said Chief Robert Spinks. "Thanks to the response and professionalism of both the Parsons Police Department and the Labette County Sheriff's Department, a dangerous situation was resolved safely and efficiently. We are grateful no one was injured, and we appreciate the public's patience and support throughout this investigation."
The case has been forwarded to the Labette County Attorney's Office for review and prosecution.
Although there was an arrest this continues to be an on-going investigation, and citizens are encouraged to "See It, Hear It, Report It." All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
