Man Arrested Following Violent Altercation and Hit-and-Run
On Friday, May 9, 2025, at approximately 10:31 a.m., Parsons Police Officers were dispatched to the 2700 block of Briggs Avenue in response to a reported hit-and-run incident. Upon arrival, officers encountered a chaotic and developing situation that quickly escalated into a serious investigation involving allegations of violence, aggravated burglary, and a firearms-related offense.
The victim reported that 28-year-old Cedric Webb Jr. entered their home without permission and physically assaulted them. The victim alleged that Webb struck them, choked them, and displayed an AR-style rifle during the incident. The victim provided officers with a cellphone video appearing to show Webb with the weapon. Officers noted visible injuries on the victim consistent with the statements, including scratches on the nose and neck.
The victim further stated that Webb's vehicle, a white 2001 Mercury Grand Marquis, struck their parked Cadillac Escalade while fleeing the scene. A nearby witness corroborated the collision and completed a written statement.
While officers conducted their on-scene investigation, Detective Sergeant Tony Adamson and other officers initiated a search for Webb. Later that day, Webb voluntarily appeared outside the Parsons Police Department. After being advised of his rights, Webb spoke with officers and denied entering the residence, though he admitted to having a firearm for personal safety. Officers observed fresh injuries on Webb consistent with a physical struggle.
Statements from multiple witnesses, physical evidence, and surveillance footage led to Webb being taken into custody. He was arrested on the following charges, Aggravated Burglary, Aggravated Battery, Battery, Driving While Suspended, Leaving the Scene of an Accident and Failure to Report.
A separate witness later approached officers and reported observing a woman fleeing the residence partially undressed and being pursued by a male subject who fled in a white vehicle, consistent with earlier reports.
"This incident demonstrates the dangers of repeated and escalating behavior among known individuals," said Parsons Police Chief Robert Spinks. "The safety of our community depends on victims and witnesses coming forward, and I applaud the swift response of our officers in ensuring this case was taken seriously and addressed promptly."
Cedric Webb Jr. has since been seen by a judge and his bond was set at $100,000 for the alleged crimes. Custody of Webb has been transferred to Labette County Jail.
This continues to be an on-going investigation, and citizens are encouraged to "See It, Hear It, Report It." All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
